The Bridge Theatre’s upcoming production, directed by Nicholas Hytner, opens on 10 February 2025 and runs until 10 May.
Jonathan Bailey takes on the lead role, with a stellar cast featuring Royce Pierreson as Henry Bolingbroke, Christopher Osikanlu Colquhoun as the Earl of Northumberland, and Olivia Popica as Queen Isabel.
Additional cast members include Amanda Root (Green/Duchess of York), Phoenix Di Sebastiani (Thomas Mowbray/Groom), and Clive Wood (John of Gaunt). Michael Simkins returns to the Bridge Theatre to play the Duke of York.
The ensemble features Adam Best (Sir John Bagot), Seamus Dillane (Lord Surrey), Vinnie Heaven (Aumerle), Jordan Kouamé (Sir John Bushy/Harry Percy), Gerard Monaco (Sir Stephen Scroop/Keeper), George Taylor (Fitzwater), and Badria Timimi (Abbess of Carlisle). Understudies include Emma Bown, Martin Carroll, and Stephan Boyce.
Shakespeare’s historical drama explores themes of political power and authority, highlighting the tension between the impulsive Richard and the pragmatic Bolingbroke.
